Believe it or not, I have not shutdown my computer for 112 days. I created this 'mini program' which I run when I need to put the computer to sleep, and simply whenever I need to start it up I just press the space bar.
Usual Startup time: 30-80 seconds
Usual Shutdown time: 20-50 seconds
My Startup time: 0.97 seconds
My Shutdown time: 1.5 seconds
Here is how you make this simple program, it is EXTREMELY HELPFUL for those who are on the run or need instant access to a computer for business reasons etc.
1) Open notepad

1) Open notepad
2) Copy and paste this: RUNDLL32.EXE PowrProf.dll,SetSuspendState
3) Save As.. Sleep.bat (The .bat instead of .txt is very important)
4) Open the sleep.bat file and test it, it should make your computer sleep, press any key to wake it up.
5) Please tell me if this is more efficient for you, it is definetly for me!

I thought you were going to suggest that I should delete system32!
ReplyDeletehahaha nah
ReplyDeleteme too, Suciô.
ReplyDeletethis is useful info, but does it affect the computer in any ways?
ReplyDeleteBetta sp, im not sure about that, but ive been using it since i got the pc (5 years ago) no problems up to date. Maybe if you have a old computer or a heated area you shouldnt do it.
ReplyDeleteI've done some work to really optimize my startup and shutdown and don't use sleep ever because my laptop battery life sucks so much, but this would definitely be something I'd be into if I had a battery that could hold a charge, for sure
ReplyDeleteVery handy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I shouldn't do this because my computer is pretty old >_<
ReplyDeletePretty fast startup time :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, that's pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm running an olde 900mhz computer. I don't think it could handle the increased pressure I already put on this baby.
ReplyDeleteAn option like this for OSX would be great!
ReplyDeleteSleepmode is handy, but it still draws a fair amount of power.
ReplyDeletewhy not just use the sleepmode on your computer that does it automatically?
ReplyDeleteI thought the same as Suciô at first. Oh how are minds have been abused!
ReplyDeleteHahah nah, as long as you don't enter del c:/windows into the script then you should be fine LOL =p
ReplyDeletewould you have any tips on how you could actually start up and shut down the computer faster without putting it to sleep? seeing as sleep mode isn't turning off the computer... even hibernating is better then sleep mode... only issue is that everything goes into ram :/
ReplyDeletedisregard that last message, that is hibernate, which is basically turning off the system, thanks, windows for some reason on this computer had disabled it o_O
